U13 Match report - Cranleigh 21 Egham Knights 12.

First game of the new season and first game for the U13 boys playing full field. We were away to Cranleigh RFC at their rural ground South of Guildford a good venue and very friendly club.

A few nerves had set in as the lads had not played full field and a rumour had been cisrculated that Cranleigh were a league side. Arriving at the ground a little late ( thanks Coach Bill got us of the route twice) not much warm up time was available.

After the first 10 minutes of the first half we were down 14 points to nil and having now got over the stage fright set about playing the game. We held on till half time turning 14 points down. Soon into the second half pulling back 7 points with a try from Max converted by Ben, the try being set up by some hard work from the forwards and some good basic back play. Soon afterwards we were again on the charge but a few mistakes led to a Cranleigh try. Now 21 - 7 down the boys set about pulling back the deficit. Again hard work led us down field and from a free kick followed by a forwrard surge led to our second try again by Max. A close game was now on with both sides trying to dominate. The full time whistle went with no further score. A great experience for the boys ansd thanks to all for the efforts and we can now look forward to a great season.
